Khuranas are involved in Livestock Production and breeding of milch animals for the past six decades and have produced country’s best germplasm and have won many National Regional & state level awards for producing best Murrah Buffaloes, Indigenous cattle, exotic HF, Jersey and Crossbred cattle. Khuranas also became the first private Sector Company in 1988 to produce bovine frozen semen and were producing and marketing up to 10 Lac doses per annum till it closed down in 2000. Khuranas besides having got its own breeding farms had formed its sister concern Haryana Livestock Breeders Corporation (HLBC) by Involving Large and Small Dairy Farms and farmers/breeders of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan States and established very good network for marketing the livestock produced by them. We have the distinction of having supplied over 5 lacs milch animals to almost all the states in India in last fifty years. We have also catered for the export of milch animals to Bulgaria, Thailand , Italy, Vietnam, Philippines, Brazil, Srilanka and Nepal. Periodic diseases screening in undertaken at our farm Tuberculosis and Bruculosis and animal are vaccinated foe all essential disesases. Our other sister concerns are Indo Dairyherd Improvement Centre (IDIC) and Murrah Buffalo Breeding Project.
Our Clientele for last sixty years have been most of the States, Central government institutions, large and micro dairy farms, agencies milk cooperatives and federations, throughout the nation and some organization worldwide and have earned the name of repute for Khurana Dairy Farm.
We are also breeding and marketing Bos Indicus (Desi Cows) particularly Sahiwal, Gir, Rathee, Tharparkar and Hariana Breeds which are milch purpose cows. The basic advantages of rearing Indian/Desi Cows are:
- These are most suitable for hot Indian tropical climatic conditions and can withstand harsh summers and Winters.
- These are disease resistant and rugged animals and hence require little medication thus less expensive.
- These are reasonably good milkers and have fat percentage 5 to 6 percent.
- Are more economical since require less green and can sustain even on natural grazing.
- Overall easy to maintain by poor and marginal farmers since it is easy to breed and manage them.
- Can easily survive for 12 to 15 lactation.
- Fetch better milk rates, less expensive to maintain and hence more economical.
Many Farmers throughout the country are switching over to Indian Cows (Desi Cows) and their demand is on the rise. We are making all possible efforts to meet the aspirations of large and small dairy farmers who are switching to these cows by providing them with good yielders and cows true to their breed Characters.
